70km away from Rio, Petropolis has a totally different atmosphere and architecture from Rio. The city was founded by D. Peter II to host the summer imperial palace of the portguese royal family.

- Crystal Palace: built to be Princess Isabel's botanical garden, today it hosts exhibitions and events.
- Santos Dumont museum: house where santos dumont lived years before he die.
